We regret to announce the Syracuse International Horse Show is canceled for 2021.
On April 2, we received permission from the Fairgrounds to go forward with the show. At that time, the Fairgrounds did not know what protocols the State would require, but would let us know as soon as they knew. We went ahead and updated our prize list, secured our staff and officials, and had postcards printed to announce the show would go forward. On April 15, we were told by the Fairgrounds we would need to contact the Onondaga County Department of Health for Covid protocols and to obtain permission to hold the show. We contacted the Health Department, provided show details, including the USEF Covid protocols, and asked for permission to hold the show. On April 21, the Health Department contacted us, and advised they were satisfied with the USEF Covid protocols, but the Health Department would require all exhibitors, trainers, grooms, staff, volunteers, and officials to show proof of full vaccination for Covid-19 or proof of a negative Covid test before being admitted to the Fairgrounds. Additionally, due to Covid, our show manager was having difficulty securing portable stalls for the dairy barn. Without portable stalls for the dairy barn, the show would not be able spread exhibitors out enough to be in compliance with the USEF social distancing guidelines. After much discussion, the board of directors felt the show would not be financially feasible, and there were just too many hoops to jump through. We are extremely disappointed with this outcome and we are sure many of you are as well.
Please plan to join us in 2022. Our tentative dates, pending USEF approval, are June 29-July 2, 2022.
Thank you for your continued support of our show.
